Demon Face Tutorial

In this video, I am introducing you to the most basic technique for making your face transform to look like a horrifying demon. I find that once you learn these basic steps, experimentation will be your best learning source.

The end of the video features my demon face after I added some more effects to it. For the eyes, you simply need to make a 'solid' and draw a small circle in it. You then parent it to the motion tracking, and feather a bit. To make my face glow, I used a plug-in for After Effects called 'Starglow'

For the screen shake, you need to make the footage a composition. Then, scale up the comp, alt-click on the position key-frame, and type in wiggle(x,y) . REPLACE THE 'X' AND 'Y' WITH NUMBERS. You usually need different numbers depending on how big the comp is, so just experiment. I'm pretty sure that the 'x' is how many times the wiggle occurs, and the 'y' is the intensity of the wiggle.

These are some random effects I did in Adobe After Effects. I just want to give you an idea of what I'm going to be uploading in the near future.

Hi Everyone

Yes, that crazy moron in the picture is me. Not only am I showing you who I am, I am also demonstrating some insanely simple (but effective) visual techniques that really add to a picture or video. I color corrected the crap out of this photo to make it darker and enhance the shadows, and drew that face in with Adobe Photoshop. Doing these things used techniques that are perfect for creating atmosphere in horror movies.
Correcting shadows and adding slight grain to video footage makes any scene look a whole lot better, and will definitely build tension during 'scary' scenes.

If you are using Adobe After Effects, then the Curves effect is all you really need in order to drastically change the lighting and coloring in footage.

In Adobe Premiere Pro, you can utilize RGB Curves or RGB Color Corrector, either one is fine.

A brief introduction to 'Blood and Fire'

In this newly created blog, I will be uploading footage and discussing editing techniques that apply to Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, mainly having to do with realistic gore effects and other crazy effects.
